In order to properly see
satan for who he really is, we need to base all our opinions and study on the
scriptures. Not on religious opinions and traditions. The scriptures should be
our sole source of truth and revelation.
There are several
scriptures that clearly refer to satan. Then there are those that are not clear.
They may or may not be referring to the devil.
The sad thing today is
that the majority of what is taught and believed in church about the devil is
not based on clear scriptures but on doctrines, traditions and religious
theories. Furthermore, there is a lot of teaching about satan and the demonic
that is based on the experiences of some people, visions, dreams, revelations
and so forth that is taught as biblical truth even if there is no scripture to
back it up and even if most of it actually contradicts the scriptures and the
work of Jesus on the Cross. This is unacceptable.
It is necessary for us to
focus on what is clearly revealed in the bible rather than on assumptions based
on abstract scriptures. The typical Pentecostal today is more likely to believe
an assumption from an unclear scripture as long as it is taught by their man or
woman of God than they are to believe a clear scripture which disagrees with
their opinion.
The devil was not and has never been the worship
leader in heaven
It is generally believed
and taught that Lucifer was the worship leader in heaven. However this isn’t
backed up by any scripture in the bible.
It is extrapolated from Ezekiel
28:13 which says, “the workmanship of thy
tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee.”
Tabrets and pipes are
music instruments. Therefore it is taught that Lucifer had inbuilt music
instruments and his job was to worship God in heaven.
However this is not
necessarily the case. And there is a simple reason why not;
First, the words used for
tabrets and pipes do not only mean music instruments, but are also used to
refer to the settings in which precious stones are placed.
Indeed, if you look at
this verse in context, it is talking about lucifer’s splendor and beauty and
how his body was covered with precious stones.
This is how the latter part of this verse was translated in other versions;
"...and crafted in gold were your settings and your engravings. On the day that you were created they were prepared." ESV
"... Your settings and your sockets were made of gold when you were created." GW
"... the workmanship of your settings and sockets, Was in you. On the day that you were created They were prepared." NASB
"..your settings and mounts were made of gold. On the day you were created they were prepared." NET
Therefore we can see from looking at several other translations that this verse is not talking about music instruments but about the inbuilt settings and sockets that God built in lucifer in which the several precious stones were placed
The context therefore
doesn’t support this idea.
The theory that Lucifer
was the worship leader in heaven is a myth. There is no scriptural evidence of
it but the extrapolation of a scripture that is talking about something
entirely different.
