Proverbs3
9 Honour the LORD with thy
substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy
barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.
The Jews
were taught from the time they were a child to give to God and to have
storehouses. They understood that when you gave to God He always gave back and
blessed you and multiplied you and that this blessing manifested in favor and
multiplied harvest and that you would need a large barn or multiple barns in
order to contain the increase. A large storehouse or multiple storehouses were
therefore symbols of faith in the blessing of God.
This is
why Jews are some of the wealthiest and most influential people on the planet
and have always been. The Europeans, Americans, Asians, Indians and even Arabs
also understand this and it is why they are super prosperous today. The
Africans and Christians are still lagging behind.
SAVING MONEY IS BIBLICAL AND IT IS WISDOM
Christians
think saving money means that you are preparing for trouble. This is
ridiculous. First of all, you can save money for investment. Most people that
save don’t save for trouble, they save to have money to invest in future. If
you have no savings, how can you invest and build wealth? Will you just steal
the money to invest? Or you will take a loan and mortgage your life to a bank
and become a servant of someone else?
Secondly,
whether you save or not, whether you prepare or not, whether you expect it or
not, trouble will come. Financial needs will always be there regardless of your
level of faith or spirituality. And when you are not prepared, you become a
beggar or a manipulator and liar. This is what we see most churches, pastors
and ministers doing. They beg, lie, cheat, steal, manipulate, cajole and even
con people for money when they go through hard financial times. And yet these
are the same people talking about living by faith and not saving money. I would
rather save money than con people and lie in the name of the Lord.
The honest
pastors and ministers who don’t do this will simply shut down some programs
(even if they are helping lots of people) and cut down on expenses since they
can no longer manage to fund these activities, or borrow money from a bank and
go into debilitating debt. Ministry takes money. A lot of money. You had better
put away some so that in times of need you don’t shut down or stop ministering
to people simply because you don’t have the money. Have a storehouse.
When a
need arises and people are not giving enough, you will have resources to
continue ministry and to do what God has sent you to do without cutting back
because of money. This is not lack of faith.
Having
storehouses is very helpful during financially difficult times which you will
face at some point. Every ministry and church experiences this whether you
believe it or not. It is guaranteed. In your good times put money aside like
Joseph did and believe God to bless and multiply your storehouse and when the
tough times come it will be smooth sailing for you like it was for Joseph and
Pharaoh.
The
earlier you start the better. Refuse and it will be to your detriment and to
the detriment of the ministry and the people you minister to. It is wisdom and
it enables you to fulfill God’s call and help people. Ultimately that is what
ministry is for isn’t it?
THE KEY TO GENERATIONAL WEALTH AND PROSPERITY IS THE STOREHOUSE
A good man leaveth an inheritance
to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the
just. Prov13:22
A good man
leaves an inheritance for his grandchildren. This can only happen when you have
a storehouse or storehouses for your family and house. Saving something for
posterity is not carnal or being faithless. It is biblical to put away money
for posterity.
It is biblical
to save for your kids and grandkids. It is biblical to give them a good
starting place in life so that they don’t start from nothing as you did. They
just build on to what you left. They start from where you left off.
This is an
important point to consider. The reason the majority of people and families
never break out of poverty even over generations is because they never lay
aside any wealth. They consume all of their wealth in a life time and leave
nothing for their children. So each generation starts from nothing.
And yet
you find all over the world that certain societies and families build wealth
over centuries and generations. And their key is simple. Every generation
stores a portion of their income and wealth and builds a large inheritance. Their
children are able to inherit this and build it some more and then also pass it
on to their children.
As a
result, the latter generations don’t start from nothing, they just add on to
what they inherited and leave much more to their progeny. Over generations, the
wealth of these families increases, the wealth of their societies increases and
the wealth of their nations increases. Jews do this, Europeans do this,
Americans do this, Arabs do this, Indians do this, Asians do this, Africans
don’t and Christians don’t.
We usually
graduate from school, get a job and start from zero. And the cycle continues.
Is it a wonder that we are the poorest and least influential race in the world?
And yet we are very many and very hardworking. Some people say God cursed us
but that isn’t true. We just aren’t very smart stewards.
It is godly to leave an inheritance to your children and grandchildren. save money, invest money and buy properties that you can life for posterity.
Saving
money is wisdom and it is biblical. It is good financial stewardship.
Furthermore,
the wicked lay-up wealth. They save. What they don’t know is they are laying up
wealth for the just. For us the righteous. Now what if they didn’t lay up
anything? What if they ate all of it? What would we inherit?
14 House and riches are the
inheritance of fathers and a prudent wife is from the LORD.” Prov19:14
It is
prudent to leave an inheritance of house and riches for your kids. It is good
stewardship. There is nothing wrong with doing that. Leave something for your
kids. Leave them houses, lands, properties etc. instead of them working hard to
buy land and build houses they will use that money to build businesses and make
more wealth. At their end they will be wealthier than you ever were. And after
generations, your great grandchildren will be 10 times or more wealthy than you
ever were. That is how wealth is built over generations.
