“Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.” Eph4:28
If you aren’t working when you can work you are stealing. You are stealing from your family, community and from others. You are a taker instead of a giver.
1Timothy6
1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. 2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
Paul reiterates the theme we have been discussing of honoring our employers and serving them as the Lord. This is a godly thing and glorifies and honors God when we so serve and work.
3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
If you are seeking after money and riches you are opening yourself up to stuff that will destroy your soul. This is the wrong way to increase. To seek after money.
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Getting money quickly isn’t a godly system or method. Prospering quickly with little effort is an ungodly concept. This whole mindset of getting rich quick is not the way that God operates. We have to be patient to prosper. To hasten to be rich isn’t God’s way. For money to be the sole focus of your pursuit is dangerous and will lead eventually to destruction. If you are hastening to be rich you have an evil eye.
“And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”Deut8:18
God doesn’t give us money. He doesn’t have money. Nor does he make money. If God was to rain down money from heaven He would have to counterfeit it. God gives us the power to get wealth. He gives us the blessing and favor that produces wealth. His blessing on us makes us rich and prosperous.
“The blessing of the LORD makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.” Prov10:22
It is the blessing of God on us that is the real valuable thing concerning prosperity. It is the blessing that makes us rich. And this blessing is manifested when we put our hands to something and work. The blessing multiplies the fruit of our labor and we prosper supernaturally.
Deuteronomy28
3 "Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country. 4 "Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. 5 "Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. 6 "Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
All these blessings are connected with productivity. The blessing multiplies and increases the works of our hands and the fruit of our labor and productivity. But we have to put our hands to something. If we have nothing then even if God multiplies it a thousand times it will still be nothing. But when we have something we do, however little, the blessing of God will multiply it and make it abundant like it did with Jesus when he multiplied five loaves and two fish into thousands upon thousands of loaves and fish for tens of thousands of people to feed. That was God’s blessing at work in Jesus’ life. The same blessing dwells in us now.
8 "The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you
The blessing is upon our work. We need to get out there and work and we shall see the blessing of God. We shall see increase and prosperity in whatever we do so that we can have enough to give and to be a blessing to the Kingdom and to others. This is God’s way of prosperity and gaining wealth. Work
