UNLOCKING THE BLESSING

Genesis  14
18  And  Melchizedek king of  Salem  brought  forth bread and  wine: and he was the  priest  of  the  most high God.  19  And  he blessed him, and said,  Blessed  be Abram of the most  high  God, possessor of  heaven and earth:  20  And  blessed be  the  most high  God, which  hath delivered  thine  enemies into thy hand. And he gave  him tithes  of  all.  21  And the  king of  Sodom  said  unto Abram,  Give me the  persons,  and take the goods  to thyself.

After  Abram had given the  tithe he was  approached  by the  king  of Sodom who  offered to give him  all the  spoil  of war.  He  was  offering him a  reward for being victorious  in battle and  rescuing  his  people.   However, Abram rejects  his offer and says some  things that  reveal  to  us what  was  in  Abram’s  heart  and what he was  thinking  when he gave  the tithe  to  Melchizedek  who  was  a priest of God and also  explain why he  rejected  the gifts of the  king  of  Sodom.

22  And Abram said to  the king  of  Sodom, I have  lift up mine hand  unto  the  LORD,  the most  high God,  the possessor  of  heaven and  earth,  23  That  I will  not  take from  a thread even to a shoelatchet,  and that  I  will not take  any  thing that is  thine, lest  thou shouldest  say, I  have made  Abram rich:

Abram  understood that  God was his source.  He  gave  a tithe as  an  expression  of  his trust in  God as his provider.  He  gave the tithe as an  acknowledgement  and acceptance  of  the blessing that  was  upon him which Melchizedek had  pronounced  when  he met him  on  his way  back  from  the slaughter  of the  kings.   It  was  an  act  of  faith on  Abram’s  part  for God’s  provision,  victory  and  faithfulness.  He  was  saying that now that  he  had the  blessing  of  God on  him,  God  Himself would  prosper him  and not  man.  No  man would  be  able to  say  that  he  had  made Abram rich.   God was  so  honored  by  this  act  of faith that later  when He gives  the law He  instituted  the tithe as a legislation.

Every  time we tithe we are saying  that  Jesus our  High Priest  has  already blessed us.  We are  saying  that God is our  source  and is  the only one  that prospers us.  Every  time  we tithe we are  expressing  our  trust  in God and not  in man  or our  own  ability. This  is what  the tithe is about. It’s about  faith. Tithing  is supernatural.  It is spiritual.  It is a faith thing. And if you  do  it  properly  you will  see  supernatural results. You  will see God  provide  for you  supernaturally. You will  prosper in a  supernatural  way.

Tithing connects you  to the  generational  blessing  of Abraham. Tithing connects you to  your spiritual history all the  way back to  Abraham.   Until Abraham  tithed  Sarah  didn’t conceive and  bring forth the  generational seed.  As soon as Abraham tithed  to  Melchizedek  he  and  Sarah  conceived  Isaac. His tithe  connected him  to  the  generational blessing  all  the  way  from Adam to  Noah  to him.   The tithe  is  entirely supernatural and entirely a  faith  thing.  The  tithe  takes us all the  way  back.  It connects us  to  the  blessing  on Adam, the  blessing  on Noah,  the blessing  on Abraham.  It connects  us by faith.  It connects  us to  the blessing  of Christ  that we have in Him.

Haggai  1
2  Thus speaketh  the  LORD  of hosts,  saying,  This people  say, The time  is  not  come, the time  that the LORD'S house should be  built.  3  Then came  the word  of the  LORD by Haggai the  prophet, saying,    4  Is it time  for you,  O ye,  to dwell  in  your cieled houses, and  this house lie waste?  5  Now therefore  thus saith the LORD  of hosts;  Consider  your ways.  6  Ye have  sown much, and bring in  little;  ye eat,  but  ye  have not enough; ye  drink, but  ye  are  not  filled with  drink;  ye clothe you,  but  there  is none  warm; and he  that earneth  wages  earneth  wages  to  put it into a bag with  holes.  7  Thus  saith the LORD of hosts;  Consider your ways.  8  Go  up  to the  mountain, and bring wood, and build  the  house; and  I will  take pleasure in  it, and I will  be  glorified,  saith the  LORD.  9  Ye looked for  much, and,  lo, it  came  to  little;  and when ye brought  it home, I did  blow upon  it. Why? saith the LORD of  hosts.  Because of  mine house that  is waste, and ye  run  every man  unto  his own  house.  10  Therefore  the heaven  over you  is stayed from dew, and the earth  is stayed from her  fruit.  11  And  I called  for a  drought  upon the  land,  and  upon  the  mountains, and upon  the  corn, and  upon the new  wine,  and upon  the oil, and upon  that  which  the ground  bringeth forth, and upon  men,  and upon cattle,  and upon all the  labour of  the hands.

If we  will honor God and take care of  His  house we  will see  our own  house supernaturally  taken  care  of. When we honor  God and use our finances to  advance His work  on  the  earth  then God  supernaturally takes care  of  us because our faith  is in  Him to  take  care of us and  not  in  us  to take care  of ourselves.

When the  resources that  we would  have  used to  advance  ourselves  go  to  God’s  work on earth, then it means we are depending on God to advance us and He will every single time.

Matthew 6:31-33 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
