GOD IS NOT IN CONTROL

This sounds  blasphemous to  most people to  say  that  God is  not in  control of what is happening.  Most Christians believe that God is  controlling their lives and  the life of  everybody else.  But  the  scriptures are very clear on  this. He is not.
Most  people  think that God’s will happens automatically and  that  whatever He wants will not happen  but this  isn’t  the  case.  Not  everything God wants  comes to  pass.  His will doesn’t happen automatically.

“The  Lord is not slack concerning his  promise,  as some  men count slackness;  but  is  longsuffering  to usward, not  willing that  any  should  perish,  but that  all should  come  to repentance.”  2Pet3:9

This  verse is very clear.  God is not  willing  for anyone to  perish  and  go  to  hell.  It  is not  His will.  And  yet the majority are dying and  going  to  hell every single  day.  Even  Jesus said  that  narrow is the  gate  that leads to life  and there  are few that  find it and  broad is  the  gate that  leads  to  destruction  and  many are they that  find  it. It  is  clear  that  God’s will  in  this case  is not  happening.  How  do  you  explain  that?

“Beloved, I wish  above  all things that thou mayest  prosper  and be  in health,  even as  thy  soul prospereth.”  3Jn2

God wants for  us above all  things to  prosper and  be healthy.  It  is His will clearly revealed. And  yet  it  is not happening  for most  of  us.  Most  Christians  are sick  and  broke  and failing.  And  yet  it is not  God’s will. His  will is  that  they be  healthy  and  successful.  His  will  is not  coming  to  pass.  How  do you  explain that?

“The  thief cometh not,  but  for to  steal,  and to kill, and to  destroy:  I am come  that  they  might have  life, and that  they  might have  it  more abundantly.”  Jn10:10

God’s will is for us  to have  abundant  life.  He  died to  give us this life. And  yet most  of us are  not  having abundant  life.  We are  miserable and  just  surviving.  This  is not  God’s will for us.

“But as he  which hath  called  you is holy, so be ye holy in  all manner  of  conversation;  Because  it  is written, Be ye  holy;  for I  am holy.”  1Pet1:15-16

God  wants us  to  live  a holy  life.  He doesn’t want  us  to  sin  and  yet  we all sin  every single day.  This  is not God’s will for  us.  And  yet  it  is happening.

Genesis  2
16  And  the  LORD God commanded the  man, saying, Of every tree of the  garden thou mayest freely  eat: 17  But of  the tree of  the knowledge  of  good and  evil,  thou shalt  not  eat  of it: for  in the day  that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely  die.

God didn’t  want Adam  to  eat the fruit  and yet he ate  it  and  led  all of us into  bondage  and slavery to sin. It  was  not  God’s will for Adam to  do this.  And  yet  it happened.  Why? By  now  you  can see a  clear  trend.  God  has  revealed what His will  is  but it  is  not happening.  Instead  the opposite  keeps happening.  People  keep doing  and experiencing  the opposite  of  what  God wants.  If  He  is in control and nothing  happens without  Him  allowing  it  then how come  these  clear violations of His will keep happening? The  answer  is  simple and  yet  profound.

God  is  not in  control.  Man  is in control.  Whatever  is  happening is  because  man  has allowed it to  happen. It  is  man  that  has the authority to  determine what  happens  here  on earth  and  what  doesn’t.  We  are  the ones that choose to fail or  sin or  follow  our own paths.  We  are  the  ones that accept  sickness  and disease and poverty  and lack  and  failure.  It  is  not  God, it  is  us.

“I call heaven  and earth to  record  this day against you, that I  have set  before  you  life and  death, blessing and cursing: therefore  choose  life, that  both thou  and thy  seed may live”  Deut30:19

God gave  us  the  responsibility  of  choosing life  or death, blessing  or cursing. He  even told  us  what to choose.  It  is your choice what you will  experience.  It is not  bring death and  curses to you. It is  you choosing  them.

“ Death and  life  are  in  the power of  the tongue: and  they  that  love  it  shall eat  the  fruit  thereof.” Prov18:21

Death  and  life are in  the  power of the  tongue. The  words we speak  produce either death  or  life for us. What  we say  is what  happens  to  us.  You  have what  you say.  Many  of us are  constantly speaking  death in our lives and  then when it  happens we blame God for it. God doesn’t  control everything. It  is  not true. God  is  not in  control. You are.

“And God  said, Let us  make  man in our image, after  our likeness:  and let them  have dominion  over the fish of  the sea,  and over the  fowl  of  the air, and over  the cattle,  and over all  the  earth,  and  over  every creeping thing that creepeth  upon  the earth.”  Gen1:26

God gave  people  dominion over the earth. This word dominion  means  to reign, to  be in  control,  to  rule, to take over,  to subdue, to  govern  etc. We  are  the ones in  control  of the earth  and whatever is happening  here.  We  are the ones in  charge. Whatever  is  happening  is  our fault.  Not  God’s.

Psalm8
4  What  is man, that  thou  art mindful of him?  and the  son of  man,  that thou  visitest him?
5  For thou  hast  made him  a little lower  than the angels, and hast crowned  him  with  glory and honour.
6  Thou  madest him to  have  dominion  over the works of thy hands;  thou  hast  put all  things  under his feet:

God  has  put  us in charge  of all  creation  and  over the whole  earth.  We  are  the ones responsible for  what is happening  here.  Not  Him.

“The  heaven, even  the  heavens, are the  LORD'S: but  the earth hath  he given to  the children  of  men.” Psa115:16

God  has  given us rulership  and dominion over the  earth.  It  is  us who determine  what happens in the earth.  Stuff  happens because we allow  it  to  happen,  not because  God allows  it  to happen. All of us  have done  something  stupid or made  some really dumb  decision  that  has  brought us  incredible pain and  suffering. We shouldn’t now turn and  blame God  for it.  It is our fault. God is  doing  everything  He can  to  bless  us, keep  us,  save and  protect us.  He is  doing  the best  He  can considering  the circumstances and limitations  we  have imposed  on Him  by  our  unbelief and  hardness of heart.  His  will  only happens to the extent  that we submit  to Him  and  allow Him  to  operate  through  us.

“Now unto  him  that  is able  to  do  exceeding abundantly  above all  that  we  ask or think,  according  to  the power  that  worketh  in us”  Eph3:20

God  is able to  do exceeding  abundantly  above all that  we can ask  or think.  This  is all very true.  But  this verse puts a  condition  that  we all ignore.  It  says  God  does this  ‘according  to the  power that  works  in  us’
It  is  not automatic.  It  is  dependent  on our faith  and  yielding  to  Him.  If  we  don’t  believe and  yield to  Him there’s very little  He can  do.  We  limit Him.

It  is why we  must pray.  So  that  we  can  authorize  God to  be  involved on  earth  and in  our lives. “And he spake  a  parable unto them  to  this  end,  that men  ought  always to  pray,  and not  to  faint”  Lk18:1

It  why  Jesus told us to  pray  like  this; “After this manner  therefore  pray  ye:  Our Father  which art  in  heaven, Hallowed  be thy  name.  Thy kingdom  come.  Thy will be  done in  earth, as  it  is in  heaven.”  Mat6:9-10

Jesus  knew  that  God’s will  doesn’t  happen  automatically.  He  knew  that  we  are the ones  in  charge  and that  when  we want  God  to  operate we  have to  authorize  Him  through  our  prayer of faith.

Matthew18
18  Verily I say unto  you,  Whatsoever  ye  shall bind  on earth  shall  be bound  in heaven:  and whatsoever ye shall loose  on  earth  shall be  loosed  in heaven.
19  Again  I say unto  you,  That  if  two  of  you shall  agree on earth as touching any thing  that they shall  ask, it  shall be  done  for  them  of my Father  which  is in  heaven.

We  are responsible for whatever is  happening.  What  we allow or loose is what  happens.  What  we forbid or bind doesn’t happen.
As it has been aptly said before,  'without God man cannot,  without man God will not'
