I WILL RISE

1 Corinthians 15
51 Behold,  I shew you a mystery;  We shall  not  all  sleep,  but we shall all be  changed,
52 In a moment, in  the twinkling  of an  eye,  at  the last  trump:  for the  trumpet shall  sound, and the dead shall be  raised incorruptible, and we  shall be changed.
53 For this corruptible  must  put  on incorruption,  and  this mortal must  put  on  immortality.
54 So when this  corruptible shall  have  put  on  incorruption, and  this mortal shall  have put  on  immortality, then  shall  be  brought  to  pass  the saying that  is written,  Death is swallowed  up  in victory.
55 O death,  where is  thy  sting? O  grave, where is  thy  victory?
56 The sting  of death  is sin; and the strength of  sin  is the law.
57 But  thanks  be to  God, which giveth us  the  victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

As we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus in this season there are a few useful things we should keep in mind. The resurrection was  without a doubt the greatest event of all time. By it God achieved so much for us and secured His etenal purpose. Here, i discuss our resurrection.

Jesus’  resurrection  guarantees our  physical regeneration.  Because  Jesus conquered death, the fear  and the sting  of death  have been  removed  for us.  We know that  we  shall rise from  the  dead  and that  our bodies  will be  regenerated  and restored  to glory.  This  produces  great comfort  for those who  believe

1 Thessalonians 4
13 But I  would not have  you to  be ignorant, brethren,  concerning  them which  are  asleep,  that  ye  sorrow not, even as  others  which have  no hope.
14 For if we believe  that  Jesus died and  rose again,  even  so  them  also  which  sleep  in Jesus will  God bring with  him.
15 For this  we  say unto  you by the  word  of the  Lord, that  we  which  are alive  and remain  unto  the coming of the  Lord  shall not  prevent  them  which  are  asleep.
16 For the Lord himself  shall  descend from heaven with  a  shout, with the voice of the  archangel, and with the trump  of  God: and  the dead in  Christ  shall  rise  first:
17 Then we which  are alive and  remain shall  be caught up  together  with them  in the clouds,  to meet the Lord in  the  air: and  so shall we ever  be  with the Lord.
18 Wherefore  comfort  one  another  with these  words.

His resurrection is what  guarantees us  the  forgiveness of our sins. If  Jesus  did not  rise from  the dead,  He cannot  give salvation to  us. However,  He did  rise from  the dead and now  He lives  forever to  make intercession for us.

“The God  of our fathers  raised  up Jesus,  whom ye  slew and  hanged on a  tree. Him  hath  God  exalted  with his  right hand  to  be a Prince  and a Saviour, for  to  give repentance  to Israel, and forgiveness  of  sins.” Acts5:30-31 29

“Blessed be the God  and Father  of our Lord Jesus Christ,  which according  to his abundant  mercy hath begotten us  again unto  a lively hope by  the resurrection of  Jesus  Christ  from  the dead” 1Pet1:3

It  is  the  resurrection  of Jesus that  differentiates  Christianity  from religion. Because of  it, we believe in and follow someone who is real and  alive. Not  just  principles like  Muslims and  Buddhists  do.

Christianity is fellowship  with  a  real person who is alive. Without  Jesus being  alive, Christianity  would  just  be another  dead  religion.

Ephesians2
4  But  God, who is rich  in mercy, for  his  great  love  wherewith he  loved us,
5  Even when we  were  dead in  sins,  hath quickened  us  together  with  Christ,  (by  grace  ye  are saved)
6  And  hath raised  us up  together, and made us  sit  together  in  heavenly  places in  Christ  Jesus:

Jesus’  resurrection  guarantees our own  spiritual resurrection.  If He hadn’t  risen  from the dead we could not be  saved.  It  would  have been impossible.  But  now that  He was raised, we too  have been  spiritually resurrected in Him  and  sitted  in  heavenly places  together  with  Him. We  no longer  have a  dead spirit, our new spirit is alive and joined to Christ as one. Because He lives, we live also.

“I am  crucified  with  Christ: nevertheless  I  live; yet  not  I,  but  Christ  liveth  in me:  and the  life which  I  now live  in  the  flesh I  live  by  the  faith  of  the  Son of  God, who loved  me,  and gave himself for  me.”  Gal2:20

Jesus is our  resurrection  at  this very present time. The  resurrection is not  an event that  we only look forward to  in the  future. The  resurrection is now.  We are living  in  it.  Jesus  is our resurrection  from the flesh,  from sin, from  Adam, from  sickness  and disease and from  the earth.  In Him  we  can  live right  now in heavenly places.  In Him  we can  live  right  now  in glory and in the presence of God.

Colossians 2
10 And ye are  complete  in  him, which  is  the head  of all principality  and power:
11 In whom also ye are  circumcised  with the circumcision made  without  hands, in  putting off  the  body of the sins of  the  flesh  by the circumcision  of Christ:
12 Buried with him  in baptism, wherein  also  ye  are  risen  with him  through  the  faith  of  the  operation  of God, who hath raised  him from  the  dead.
13  And you, being  dead in  your sins and  the uncircumcision  of your  flesh, hath he  quickened together with  him, having  forgiven  you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting  of  ordinances  that was  against  us,  which was  contrary  to us, and  took  it out  of  the  way, nailing  it to  his cross;
15 And  having spoiled  principalities and  powers,  he made a  shew  of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
