“For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.” Isa54:7-8
God’s wrath was totally satisfied at the Cross. We never have to fear His wrath ever again. We never have to fear God’s anger towards us.
There are preachers that are preaching that God is angry with us and that if we do not repent He will destroy us. Many pastors preach an angry God to their congregations in order to get people to stop living in sin.
However, none of this scaremongering is even true. God promises that with everlasting kindness He will have mercy upon us. That with great mercies He will gather us unto Himself. That he will no longer hide His face from us.
When we are afraid of God’s wrath it is because we are condemned. When we do not have a good intimate relationship with God, it’s because we have not understood and embraced the gospel of peace.
“For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.” Isa54:9
Imagine if I said to you that God spoke to me that He was going to destroy the earth or this country with a flood like He did in the days of Noah. Most of you would not believe me. You would say I am a false prophet. Why?
Because you remember the promise He made to Noah that He would never destroy the earth again with a flood. In fact some would even point to the rainbow as evidence of God’s promise to never destroy this earth with a flood.
But if I said to you that God had spoken to me that He is very angry with the church or with someone or with our country because of the numerous sins being committed. Many of you would believe me. Why?
Because you are aware of the sins you are committing and the ones others are committing. And yet I would be lying.
Any preacher or minister that tells you that God is angry with you or the church because of sins is lying.
God Himself swore that He would never be angry or rebuke you. It’s right there in your bible.
“For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.” Isa54:10
Do you still see mountains out there? Or hills? God promised that even if all of them were taken away, His kindness, His covenant of peace and His mercy would never depart from us. Every time you see a mountain or hill, remember that God’s mercy and kindness and peace is still with you. The New Covenant is a covenant of peace. God has made peace with us through Jesus Christ. This is the covenant that we are under as New Testament believers. We are not under the Old Covenant that brought the Law. That covenant was for Israel and it was concluded by the death of Jesus on the Cross. The New Covenant was sealed with the blood of Jesus.
God sealed His promise to Noah with a rainbow. Now He has sealed His promise to us with the blood of Jesus. And yet the sad thing is most of us have more faith in the rainbow than in the blood of Jesus.
God is not mad at you. He will never be. This is His promise to you.
